The division has core strength in Design and development of medical devices for clinical use, Transfer the technology of the device to industry for commercial production and work with the industrial partners for setting up the manufacturing facilities. The major focus of the division is on devices for supporting the human cardiopulmonary system with core competence in the areas of mass, momentum and energy transfer. Currently, the Division is developing Membrane Oxygenators, Paracorporeal Left Ventricular Assist Device, Centrifugal Blood, magnetic bloodflow meters, implantable micro infusion pump, micro dialyser etc. Other projects include infrared energybased technologies for blood warmers, infant warmers, vein viewers and Hb monitor. The division also has developed transcutaneous energy transfer system (TETS) and brush less motors as part of ongoing programs. The division has provided significant support for the development of Infrared LED based products and image processing products like PT/INR, Nerve stimulator and has provides support to rapid prototyping to many of the ongoing product development programmes of the institute.
